2 in 5 Australian students are not taught math by a qualified teacher
2 in 5 teachers in a Math classroom are out-of-field - The Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute's (AMSI) 2024 State of the Mathematical Sciences reveals a shortage of mathematically qualified teachers in Australian secondary schools, with up to 40% teaching out-of-field - Disproportionally effecting regional, rural and low income youth
In light of despairing gaps for a mathematical education to the youth of Australia, concentred predominantly in rural, regional and low socio economic areas, our work aims to ensure all students the opportunity to create a better future in a increasingly technological and STEM focused environment
The Specialised Mathematics Initiative:

Step 1. Create a community of reliable and passionate tutors
Step 2. Obtain community funding and grants
Step 3. Provide cost free education through weekly online sessions that follow the relevant syllabus to students across Australia
